Vincent Willem van Gogh is a Dutch painter, considered by many to be one of the greatest painters in the history of European art. He is one of the most prominent representatives of post-impressionism. During the last 10 years of his life, he developed all his artistic activity - he is the author of about 900 paintings and 1100 drawings. He committed suicide at the age of 37, assuming that he had mental problems. He remained unrecognized during his lifetime, but posthumously his fame spread, especially after 71 of his works were exhibited in Paris, France on March 17, 1901. In 1973, a museum dedicated entirely to his art was opened in the Netherlands and has the richest collection of his paintings. Van Gogh only signed paintings that he considered sufficiently finished to be offered to a buyer, writing his first name "Vincent". One of his most famous works is "Sunflowers", which he painted in 1888 in Arles. Vincent painted two series of still lifes with sunflowers. The first series was created in Paris in 1887 and shows recumbent sunflowers, while the second series, created in Arles, shows bouquets of sunflowers in vases.
