At a certain distance from the baskets, the floor is marked with a three-point line - baskets marked behind it carry three points, and those marked after it - two points. In the event of a foul, the duration of the game stops counting, and the losing team is entitled to one or more shots, which carry one point each if successful. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins, and in case of a tie at the end of the allotted time, the game goes into overtime. The ball can be moved around the court by dribbling while walking or running, or by throwing to a teammate. On offense, players can use different shots, and on defense, they can take the ball off the dribbler, intercept passes or block shots, and in both cases they can catch the ball as it bounces off the basket ring or off the backboard. It is a violation of the rules to lift or drag the leading foot without dribbling the ball, to carry it or to continue dribbling after the ball is caught with both hands. In addition to different shooting, passing, dribbling and rebounding techniques, basketball teams develop their own systems available to offensive and defensive players. Traditionally, the tallest player is at the center position, the strongest and tallest player is a heavy wing, the slightly shorter but more agile light wing, and the shortest or best ball handlers are the point guard and shooting guard.
